The softball season comes to a close, finishing 7-30 on the year. The team improved from last season with more hits and runs then the previous year.

The season started off slow for the Trojans losing twenty-two games at the beginning. The direction changed for the team when they swept Wake Tech Community College at home on April 3. They proceeded to get a win over Camp Community College and sweep Bryant & Stratton College on the road in Virginia the following week. The Trojans pulled out a win over Cleveland Community College and Southeastern Community College to land them the no. 12 seed in the DII Region X Conference Tournament.

In the fourth year of the softball program, the 2022 roster set a team record of RBIs (158) , doubles (61), triples (7) and stolen bases (50).

Hailey Pait led the team in hits (45), setting the single season school record over teammate, Angel Pearsall, who finished with 42 hits the previous (2021) season. Chelsey Wilkes landed the single season doubles record with 14 doubles this season and Pait was not far behind with 11. Makayla Ricks scored 35 runs this season giving her the single season school record. Again, Pait was not far behind this season with 30 runs scored. Ricks stole 18 bases this season giving her the school record for stolen bases in a single season. Pearsall and Ricks stole a combined 30 of the teams 50 stolen bases on the year. Elizabeth Greeson contributed to the team setting record in RBIs, breaking the single season record with 34 herself.

The Trojans relied heavily on pitcher, Jaylynn Faughn, who threw a total of 80.2 innings for her team. She finished the season 2-16 with team high 21 strikeouts. Pait contributed 65 innings with 11 strikeouts and one save. Kylie Reswik and Katie Cooper threw the remaining 60 innings for the Trojans.

Pearsall was a threat on defense finishing with 107 putouts and 4 assists.

The Trojan Softball team will have a new place to call home next season in their brand new stadium at JP Riddle for the 2022-23 season. Stayed tuned for updates on the project and get ready to watch your Lady Trojans play next year on Legion Road at JP Riddle Stadium.
