Board Chair’s Message

Thank you all for your continued support of the FTCC Foundation! Through your generosity we continue to exponentially grow the much-needed assistance we provide to the College and its students. The Foundation was established in 1985 as a tool to cultivate and manage donations to FTCC. Since that time we have grown into an organization that provided over $200,000.00 in scholarships and other aid to students during the 2018-2019 school year!

As you are aware, FTCC is an incredible asset for Fayetteville, Cumberland County and its surrounding areas. For students, the College provides over 280 curriculum programs of study at multiple campuses, as well as a host of online offerings. At a fraction of the cost of traditional four-year colleges, learning at FTCC is an incredible value for students. FTCC is constantly expanding its academic offerings and creating new ways to impact our community, including the upcoming groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art Firefighting Training Center. Where an individual has a desire to improve him- or herself and to open new opportunities in life, FTCC has the means, tools, and can provide the assistance needed to achieve those goals.

For local businesses and employers, FTCC provides an invaluable resource by preparing its students to step straight from the classroom into meaningful employment. Programs such as Collision Repair and Refinishing, Business Administration, Culinary Arts and Global Logistics and Distribution Management, as well as our paralegal, dental hygienist, nursing and funeral services programs, produce employees that can jump directly into work with minimal on-the-job training. This in turn saves local employers much-needed time and resources and allows FTCC graduates to contribute to an employer’s bottom line from day one. In close connection with Fort Bragg and through specially tailored educational programs, FTCC is able to provide a stepping stone for our soldiers to transition from life and work in the military to a productive civilian career.

The student loan debt crisis has become a major issue for governments, lenders and borrowing students. I am especially proud that FTCC and the Foundation are making leaps and bounds in helping fight the crisis by helping students take on little to no debt in order to obtain an education. Under the leadership of Dr. Keen, the College is seeking to minimize the high-interest rate funds students have traditionally been forced to borrow from the government or private lenders. The Foundation is one of the primary tools utilized to achieve that goal – through contributions from private donors, corporate sponsors, alumni, employees and in-kind gifts, access to an outstanding education is becoming less costly and more of an attainable reality for our students.

The bottom line is that the Foundation works tirelessly to expand its assistance and support for FTCC, but none of that would be possible without your continued support and generosity. I sincerely thank those who already contribute to our mission and welcome anyone with an interest to contact the Foundation today to see how you can help. If you have an interest in creating a better community and a stronger workforce and opening doors for a new generation of FTCC graduates, I encourage you to support the Foundation by any means possible. Thank you again for your support of FTCC and the Foundation.
