About the Fayetteville Rose Garden
Established in 1972, the Fayetteville Rose Garden features approximately 700 roses consisting of 25 different varieties ranging from miniature roses, to grandifloras, to modern shrub roses, and classic hybrid teas. Over 100 of the roses in the garden today were part of the original rose garden which was designed by Augusta Knight, a member of the Fayetteville Rose Society.
The garden was truly a community project. The City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Beautiful, the Garden Club Council, the Fayetteville Rose Society and FTCC then known as Fayetteville Technical Institute were all instrumental in making the garden a reality. The partnership between FTCC and the Fayetteville Rose Society has continued through the years. The FRS provides new roses and rose growing expertise. FTCC provides the daily maintenance and care of the garden.
The allure of roses and the enduring beauty of the garden attracts many visitors each year. Some of these visitors choose to make the rose garden the backdrop for some of life’s most important moments such as weddings, graduations, prom night and family portraits. What began as a community project fifty years ago has grown to become one of Fayetteville’s most treasured and beloved landmarks.
The Fayetteville Rose Garden is located at the intersection of Hull Road and Devers Street on FTCC’s Fayetteville Campus. Parking is available at the Rose Garden by Lafayette Hall.
