HUDSON, N.C. — Fayetteville Tech softball finished its 2021 season with a first-round appearance in the Region 10 Tournament on Saturday, May 8.

The Trojans (6-24), playing as the No. 4 seed out of the Region 10 Division II East, fell to West top seed Caldwell CC in two games, 2-1 and 13-4.

“After a season of uncertainty, ups and downs, Covid stops, the ladies played their best game of the year today,” Trojans’ coach Keith Edgerton said.

Caldwell was the team’s third straight opponent to receive votes in the NJCAA Division II poll. The Trojans finished out the regular season with doubleheaders against nationally ranked Louisburg and Pitt CC.

The Trojans have reached the playoffs in each of the program’s two complete seasons, making first-round appearances in the program’s inaugural 2019 season and again this year. The NJCAA cancelled the 2020 spring season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The second game, we ran out of gas.” Edgerton said. “But we served notice that this program is on the rise.”
