Softball traveled to Winterville, NC to play game three against Pitt Community College. The Bulldogs walked it off in the bottom of the seventh inning to sweep the Trojans in the conference series. 

FTCC vs. Pitt Community College- Tuesday, March 12 (3-4, Loss)

The Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead early. 

The Trojans responded in the top of the second inning scoring two runs. Nyla Mitchell (Lumberton, NC) started the inning off with a walk. Krista McLean (Dunn, NC) and Ava Basolt (Sanford, NC) had back to back singles and with a little help of a Bulldogs throwing error, the Trojans scored two. 

One more run is put on the scoreboard for the Trojans in the top of the third when they started the inning off with a single from Trinity Gaither (Bunnlevel, NC) and a double from Morgan Brady (Fayetteville, NC). With one out, McLean hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Gaither. 

The Bulldogs scored one more run in the bottom of the third on three hits to bring the game within one run. 

Both teams went scoreless through the fourth inning, but in the bottom of the fifth, Pitt tied the game up at three from a leadoff homerun. 

The Trojans were unable to get a run across in the final two innings. The Bulldogs hit two doubles in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the win. 

Tamarah Lowery (Raeford, NC) threw four innings for the Trojans on the mound getting three strikeouts. Basolt pitched the final two innings. 

 

Softball is back at home this weekend with a schedule change. They will be hosting Southwest Virginia in a conference three-game series. Saturday, March 16 will be a doubleheader starting at 2pm and game three will follow on Sunday at 12pm.
