LOUISBURG — Fayetteville Tech men’s basketball dropped a 78-72 loss at Louisburg on Nov. 20, halting a two-game winning streak and moving the Trojans to 2-4 overall and 1-2 against Region 10 opponents.

The Trojans nursed a 38-37 lead at the half but couldn’t curtail a late surge of timely shooting by the Hurricanes, who pulled away down the stretch for the win.

The loss came despite a game-high 15 points from freshman guard Collin Lewis, whose night included three 3-points and six rebounds.

Josh Haymer (12), Mike Collins (11) and Donte Johnson (10) also scored in double digits, while DeShaun Leftwich matched Lewis’ rebound total with six.

Perhaps key in the Trojans’ loss was an off night at the free-throw line, where the team shot just 50 percent. The Trojans average 65 percent on the season.

The Hurricanes went 13-for-19 from the foul line on the night, a 68.4 percent performance.

The Trojans continue their six-game road trip Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Guilford Tech. After stops at Vance-Granville and Lenoir CC, they’ll return home Dec. 8.
