The Trojans faced the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton last night in Fayetteville. It was an exciting match that kept the fans on their toes. Volleyball handed the Bobcats their first conference loss.

FTCC vs. Bryant & Stratton (W, 3-0)

The firsts set started out with the Trojans behind 2-0 before scoring their first point from an Eternitie Denton (Fayetteville, NC) kill and a Sydney Conklin (Fayetteville, NC) tip to tie the game up at 2. It was a back and forth set from there with kills by Morgan Brady (Fayetteville, NC) and Denton to keep the Trojans in the game. The Trojans were down 11-6 when the first timeout of the set was called. Denton re entered the game and immediately got a kill to change the energy back over to the home side. The Trojans had a service ace by Jaqueline Woosley (Fayetteville, NC) and kills by Olivia Johnson (Fayetteville, NC) and Sonjai Guiles (Georgetown, SC) to get back in reach of the Bobcats. Brady and Denton tied the game back up at 14 with a block. The set stayed neck and neck as the Trojans began to trail a little again until Johnson went back to serve with two service aces to tie the set back up at 17. Brady came back to serve for another ace and the Trojans took control from their with kills by Spexarth and Woosley and a block from Guiles. They ended the first set with another service ace, this time from Woosley, and a kill from Guiles.

The energy carried over to set two for the Trojans getting up on the Bobcats 2-0. The Bobcats took back one point but the Trojans got the ball back from a kill from Spexarth after an amazing dig from Libero, Aliyah Brown (Fayetteville, NC). FTCC took the ball and ran with it in this set not letting Bryant & Stratton score more than 14 points. Johnson had four more service aces before set two ended the same as the first, a kill from Guiles.

The Trojans stayed strong through set three, starting off 3-0. Johnson and Woosley each added another service ace to their list before kills from Spexarth, Guiles, Rion Caldwell (Florence, SC) and Brady. Defense was the only thing on Brown’s mind tonight as she made another two great digs to save balls for her team as the Libero. Set three ended with a block from Guiles and Spexarth.

Spexarth led the Trojans on offense with 12 kills and Woosley set up 26 assists. Brown led the defense with 17 digs and Johnson had seven services aces.

“After the first set, we started picking up the game more. We started to not care about the scoreboard anymore and decided to just have fun. When I go back to serve I think about who I am going to target, I have a plan,” said Olivia Johnson about her success against Bryant & Stratton.
