FAYETTEVILLE, NC – December 17, 2018 – Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) announced today that Mark Sorrells has joined the College as the Senior Vice President for Academic & Student Services. Sorrells comes to FTCC from the Golden LEAF Foundation where he was Senior Vice President of the Foundation and its longest serving staff member.

Sorrells currently serves on the boards of the Public School Forum, the NC Alliance for School Leadership Development and previously served on several state level boards and commissions including serving as Chair of the Education Funders Committee for the NC Network of Grantmakers, a member of the Governor’s Education Transformation Commission, and the NC Commission on Workforce Development.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and completed his Doctorate in Education at East Carolina University. Mark is a 1999-2001 William C. Friday Fellow in the Wildacres Leadership Initiative and completed non-profit and philanthropic leadership programs at Stanford University.

Fayetteville Technical Community College was established in 1961 and serves over 40,000 students annually by providing over 250 occupational, technical, general education, college transfer, and continuing education programs to meet students’ needs and desires, as well as the community.
