The Trojans hosted Pitt Community College for a Dig Pink game supporting breast cancer awareness. The conference match was the second time these two teams met for the season and, just like the first time, the Trojans came out on top.

The stands were packed as the game started and the crowd continued to grow throughout the match. The energy brought from the team and the fans was unmatched last night for this special event.

FTCC vs. Pitt CC (W, 3-0)

Sydney Conklin (Fayetteville, NC) lead the Trojans on offense with 11 kills out of her 16 attempts on the night having the best game of her career at FTCC. Hannah Spexarth (Fayetteville, NC) and Morgan Brady (Fayetteville, NC) spiked energy in the Trojan offense each having 8 kills. Spexarth was also hot on defense, matching her teammate Taylor Melvin (Fayetteville, NC)  with 7 digs. Melvin continued her game serving, finishing with 3 service aces complimenting Sonjai Guiles (Georgetown, SC) who also had 3 service aces. Brady lead in blocks with 2 assisted and one solo.

Set one started out strong for Guiles as she helped her team gain a lead with a kill and her 3 service aces making the score 7-2. Brady, Conklin and Spexarth followed with more kills to increase the Trojan’s lead to 12-6. The rest of the set included a kill for Guiles, Conklin and Eternitie Denton (Fayetteville, NC) and service aces from Brady, Aliyah Brown (Fayetteville, NC) and Kailey Ann Strickland (Fayetteville, NC).

Set two stayed back and forth throughout the entire set with the Bulldogs falling short to the Trojans. Spexarth started off the scoring for her team with a kill, followed by one of Melvin’s service aces and two kills from Brady to make it 8-8. The Trojans took the lead at that point with a service ace from Brady and kills from Guiles, Denton and Conklin. A huge block from Conklin and Brady gave the Trojans energy to finish the set. Conklin and Spexarth each had two more kills to end set two.

In set three, the Trojans came out with energy and did not stop, finishing the game with their strongest set on the night, 25-7. Guiles and Denton got their team fired up with a block for the first point of the set. Jacqueline Woosley (Fayetteville, NC) had her first service ace on the night, followed by two kills from Conklin who continued her great game. The Trojans continued to dominate at that point until the end of the set with some blocks by Brady and Spexarth, and kills from Brown, Brady and Conklin. The last Trojans earned point of the night came on a kill from Rion Caldwell (Florence, SC).
