Baseball traveled to Franklin, VA to take on the Hurricanes of Paul D. Camp Community College for a non-conference game. The Trojans had a big eight-run inning to pull ahead of the Hurricanes to get them to 22 wins. 

FTCC vs. Paul D. Camp- 9-8, Win

The Trojans scored one run in the top of the first inning on four walks. The Hurricanes tied the game up in the bottom of that inning scoring one unearned run. 

Camp took the lead when they scored runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings. They were leading the Trojans 6-1 going into the seventh. 

In the top of the seventh, the Trojans unleashed for eight runs to take the lead and never lose it. The inning started with two walks from the Hurricane’s pitching staff before Jaylon Woodley (Courtland, VA) doubled to right field to score both baserunners. Mason Turner (Lexington, SC) hit a sacrifice fly to score Woodley who stole third base earlier in his at bat. Zavion Ingram (Clayton, NC) hit the second double of the inning and Wilmer Cuevas (Brentwood, NY) singled to pull the game within one run. Markey Purvis (Bennettsville, SC) was hit by a pitch and Zamar Lewis (Dublin, NC) doubled to left field to plate both baserunners and take the lead. With two outs, Cole McFatter (Goldsboro, NC) had a pinch hit single and Logan Charlesworth (Fayetteville, NC) walked. Woodley singled for his second hit of the inning to put the Trojans up 9-6. 

The Hurricanes scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it a one run game. 

No more runs were scored in the final two innings of play. The Trojans take the win 9-8 over the Hurricanes to tie the program wins record at FTCC. 

The Trojans used five arms on the day. The staff gave up ten hits, six earned runs and had nine strikeouts. 

Woodley led the Trojan offense going 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Baseball heads back to Virginia this weekend for their next conference series. They will play the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton in a three-game series. First pitch on both days is set for 1pm.
