Baseball hosted the Rhinos of Gaston College who are ranked #2 in NJCAA DI Baseball. It was a tied game up until the Rhinos broke loose in the top of the sixth inning to pull ahead and they never looked back.

The Trojans scored first in the bottom of the first inning by a leadoff single from Jaylon Woodley (Courtland, VA). Woodley stole second base and then scored on an RBI single from Caleb Holland (Fayetteville, NC) to right field.
Devin Outlaw (Jacksonville, FL) smashed a solo homerun in the second inning to put the Trojans up 2-0.
The Rhinos scored five runs in the top of the third to take the lead, but the Trojans responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Woodley singled to center field to start the inning and Zavion Ingram (Clayton, NC) walked. They did a double steal and Woodley scored on an overthrow by the Rhino’s catcher. Holland walked to put Trojan runners on first and third. Holland then stole second base and Ingram scored on the throw down. With one out, Logan Charlesworth (Fayetteville, NC) singled to center field to again put runners on the corners. Outlaw hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Holland from third base for his second RBI of the game. Xavier Colucci (Orange Park, FL) then singled to right field to score the last Trojan baserunner aboard. Trojans were up 6-5 going into the fourth.
The Rhinos scored two more runs in the fourth inning to take the lead by one.
The Trojans went scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, but were able to push one across in the fifth to tie the game up at seven. With two outs, Outlaw, Colucci and Derrick Hall (Fayetteville, NC) were all hit by a pitch to load the bases. Aaron Graves (Upper Marlboro, MD) then had an RBI walk to plate the final Trojan run of the game.
In the top of the sixth, the Rhinos scored four runs to take the lead and added one in the seventh and three in the ninth to finish the game on top 15-7.
The Trojans used seven arms in the contest. The staff gave up 14 hits, 18 walks and three homeruns.
Woodley led the offense going 3-5 with three stolen bases, along with Outlaw who was 2-2 with a homerun and two RBIs.
Baseball travels to Winterville, NC this weekend to face Pitt Community College in a conference series. The Trojans are fighting for their first conference tournament appearance in post season play. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12pm and a single game on Sunday at 1pm.
