FTCC men’s basketball has won a place in our college sports history with their win over Wake Technical Community College.  The Trojans took the win against the Eagles with a final score of 65-62. Last night, FTCC athletes, students, faculty and staff filled the stands, covering a large portion of the Wake Tech gymnasium.  When the final buzzer sounded and the scoreboard displayed the winning score for the Trojans, fans rushed the floor in a victory celebration. FTCC will advance to the Regional Final game on Saturday against Davidson-Davie Community College.

Team 2022

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, our Trojans will face off against Davidson-Davie Community College, who is the 2nd ranked team in the nation for NJCAA, in Thomasville, North Carolina.  It will be a stiff competition for both teams, fighting to bring home the coveted NJCAA Region 10, Division II Championship title.   Tip-off will be at 3:00pm.

Juggling the classroom, practice schedules and work commitments, has been tough for many of the Trojans, but last night’s performance against Wake Tech is evident our team is ready to bring home the first FTCC Athletic Championship.

Coach Brian Hurd, FTCC men’s basketball head coach says he has watched his team grow and mature on the court.  There is a definitely a cohesiveness between the athletes that is palpable on the court.

Strongholds on the Trojan team include sophomore, George Jones, Jr. and Freshman, Jeremee Bryant.  Both have used their talents on the hardwood to help their team score big leads against their opponents.  Jones, who has played on the Trojan team for the past three years, will not be returning next season. Hurd says there are several players who have the talent to fill the void.

In the meantime, Hurd is focused on tonight’s game.  Getting the team to Thomasville, settled in, and warmed up for game time is priority.

Tomorrow’s game will be played at Davidson-Davie Brinkley Gym at 3:00pm.  The address is 297 DCC Road, Thomasville. The livestream link to watch all of the action is:
