Empowering student success through efficient, accurate, and student-centered enrollment services.
Fayetteville Technical Community College adheres to an “Open Door” admissions policy. Applicants who are high school graduates or 18 years of age may take courses as a special credit student, provided they meet course prerequisites. Curriculum degrees, diplomas, and certificates may have specific requirements for admission beyond the regular requirements to enter FTCC.
Effective July 1, 2025, a new North Carolina Law – Leon’s Law – changes how FTCC shares education records for students under the age of 18.

Your tuition rate depends on whether you qualify as an in-state or out-of-state student. To determine your residency status, all students must complete the Residency Determination System (RDS) online.
A key requirement for in-state residency is showing that you’ve lived in North Carolina for 12 consecutive months as a legal resident. During the RDS process, you may be asked to provide documents such as:
When you finish the RDS process, you’ll receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). Be sure to add your RCN to your admissions application.
To get started, complete the Residency Determination System (RDS) questionnaire below, to determine your tuition rate.
If you believe you have been incorrectly classified as an out-of-state student, you can request a reconsideration. Additional information on reconsiderations and appeals can be found here.
NC RDS Contact Number: 844-319-3640
In addition to applying, you also need to request that your official transcripts from your high school, high school equivalency program, military, and any previous colleges be sent to FTCC.
Institutions and third-party transcript providers may send secure transcripts electronically to evaltranscripts@faytechcc.edu or by mail to:
Fayetteville Technical Community CollegePlease Note: Transcripts must be sent to FTCC directly from previous institution(s) or their transcript service to be considered official.
Joint Services Transcripts (JST): JST Portal
Foreign transcripts from non-US schools must be translated and evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service; however, you may use any NACES-approved organization.
SpanTran has created a custom application for FTCC students to help get the right kind of foreign transcript evaluation at a discounted rate.
Academic advising plays a vital role in student success. Building a strong relationship with your advisor is essential to staying on track and reaching your academic and career goals.
FTCC offers several ways to pay. Please select the option that is best for you.
Tuition payment plans break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There is no interest, payment options are flexible, setup fees are affordable, and it is easy to enroll!
All down payments and enrollment fees are processed immediately. Remaining scheduled payments are processed automatically on the 20th of each month. Payments take approximately three to five business days to reflect on student accounts.
Foreign applicants holding either (a) a Visa or (b) a Resident Alien card may be admitted on a rolling basis. Your application will not be considered until all of the following items have been received.
Applicants who hold a Visitor’s visa (B1/B2) are NOT eligible to enroll in FTCC’s college-level courses.
FTCC is no longer accepting applications from F-1 international students. This change means we are unable to process admissions for students requiring an F-1 visa at this time. We understand this may be disappointing and encourage you to explore other educational opportunities that may better align with your needs. Should our policy change in the future, updates will be provided on our website.
As part of the North Carolina Community College System’s Open-Door Policy, undocumented students are welcome to enroll in courses at FTCC. However, there are specific guidelines to keep in mind:
