Women’s Basketball started their 10th season of the program with the previous record of 12 overall wins and 11 conference wins. The 2025-26 Trojan squad surpassed those numbers winning 21 games this season with 15 conference wins.
The historic season was coached by head coach, Peace Shepard, who earned Region 10 DII Coach of the Year in her fifth year at the helm and assistant coach, Martez Kirkland. Together, the two brought in a stellar recruiting class, made up of only three sophomores, who took them all the way to the Region 10 DII Tournament Championship game.
The Trojans set new program records with 703 field goals, 387 assists, 320 steals and 1,881 points.
Freshman, Elyssa Phillips (Raleigh, NC), set a new individual season record making 75 3-point baskets this season and she broke into the top five spots in points, field goals and steals.
Another freshman, Tateyawna Faison (Mt. Olive, NC), took the five spot in school records in both total rebounds and offensive rebounds.
Sophomore, Amire Banks (Mt. Vernon, GA) surpassed her own record of 97 assists last season, earning 105 assists in her second year.
The Trojans beat three nationally ranked teams this season including: Louisburg College on January 22, Cleveland CC on February 11 and Bryant & Stratton College on March 6 in the Region 10 tournament Semifinal game.
A new program standard has been set for Women’s Basketball at FTCC, putting their name on the map after this season.
