Esther R. Thompson and Elaina Ball were sworn in on Monday, Oct.18, as members of the Fayetteville Technical Community College Board of Trustees.
The Honorable Patricia Timmons-Goodson, a retired North Carolina Supreme Court Justice, administered the oath for both women at the beginning of the board’s regular monthly meeting.
Thompson, a Fayetteville businesswoman, is returning to the board after a four-year hiatus. She previously spent 11 years as a trustee of the College and told the board Monday that she is happy to return. She was appointed by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.
Ball, the CEO of the Fayetteville Public Works Commission, was appointed by the Cumberland County Board of Education. She replaces Dr. Dallas Freeman who resigned from the board for health reasons. Ball, who has lived in Fayetteville for a year, told the school board in a letter that she is committed to ensuring the growth of the business community and to maintaining a highly skilled workforce in the area.
