LOUISBURG, N.C. — Despite a high-scoring performance from experienced guard Gabe Harbison, Fayetteville Tech men’s basketball stumbled in a 77-66 loss to Division I opponent Caldwell Tech in its season opener Nov. 8.

Harbison, a sophomore from Fayetteville, poured in a game-high 22 points while adding six rebounds and a block in the contest, which was played at Louisburg College in the Hurricanes’ Roger Taylor Classic.

The Trojans (0-1) nursed a 43-36 lead at halftime, but the Cobras, led by a 16-point night from Kameron Cooke powered ahead in the second half.

Caldwell claimed the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Trojans 56-42, including 11 rebounds from the Cobras’ Anderson Keller, who added 12 points for a double-double.

Six-foot-five freshman forward Donte Johnson led the Trojans with seven rebounds and scored 15 points.

The Trojans continue in the Roger Taylor Classic on Sunday when they face another Division I opponent, Brunswick CC.
