Baseball hosted the Hurricanes of Paul D. Camp this past weekend for a three game non-conference series. The Trojans took game one on Sunday and game three on Monday to secure the series win. 

They are currently 3-2 overall starting out the year and will open conference play this weekend against Lenoir CC. 

FTCC vs. Paul D. Camp

Game One: 12-6, Win

The Trojans started out with a big six run first inning to get an early lead. They added one more in the fourth and five in the fifth to get to their 12 runs. 

Tommy Parker (St. Pauls, NC) started on the bump for the Trojans and earned his first win of the season. Elijah Green (Summerfield, NC), Carson Bender (Cincinnati, OH) and Chandon Sanderson (Pembroke, NC) all came on in relief to finish out the game. 

The Trojan offense was lead by Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL). He had two hits, three RBIS and scored two runs with a homerun in the fifth inning. 

They stole nine bases in game one and had three doubles coming from Jordan Wright (Rocky Mount, NC), Brantley Hayward (Plant City, FL) and Kristian Scales (Madison, NC). 

Hayward ended the game with 10 assists from the catcher’s spot and Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA) had seven from first base. Scales had three assists and three RBIs.

Game Two: 4-9, Loss

Camp was on the board with six before the Trojans plated their first run in the fourth. 

Jackson Rainey (Eastover, NC) drew a one out walk and scored on single from Phil Williams (Wilmington, NC) after Eythan Reynolds (Pinehurst, NC) put him in scoring position with his single. 

The Trojans scored one more in the fifth. Wright hit a leadoff double and scored on a single from Khabie to left field. The final two runs came in the sixth when Williams hit a leadoff single and Isaiah Street (Charlotte, NC) was hit by pitch. Koa Kloehs (Suwannee, GA) hit a line drive single to plate both baserunners. 

Ricky Montalvo (Inman, SC) started on the mound going 3.1 innings earning seven strikeouts. 

Williams went 4-4 with one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base.

Game Three: 6-3, Win

The Hurricanes lead up until the bottom of the forth when the Trojans scored four runs to take the lead. 

Hayward hits a one out double to get the rally started followed by a walk from Grayson Stafford (Stedman, NC). Arevalo reaches on an error but it scored Hayward and then Scales hit a line drive triple to the right center gap to plate two more. Scales scored on a balk from the Camp pitcher. 

In the fifth, Feldman singled to left field to score Hayward who hit his second double of the game. The final Trojan run was plated in the sixth when Arevalo scored on a sac bunt after hitting a double to right field. 

Caden Jeffrey (Fayetteville, NC) started on the bump throwing two innings with three strikeouts before Israel Moore (Lakeville, MN) came on in relief to earn his first win of the season throwing four innings with seven strikeouts. Jackson Sherron (Wendell, NC) closed the game facing three batters with two strikeouts to receive the save.

Baseball is back at home on Friday and Saturday when they open conference play against Lenoir CC. They will play a single game on Friday starting at 2PM and a doubleheader to follow on Saturday at noon to close out the series. All home games are $10 admission (free with FTCC ID or children 12 & under) and played at JP Riddle Stadium: 2823 Legion Rd.
