Baseball hosted Bryant & Stratton College on Friday and Saturday this past weekend for a three-game conference series. The Trojans took both games on Friday and came back on Saturday for a walk-off 10-inning game to sweep their fourth straight series. 

They are currently 23-14 overall and 19-7 in conference play, putting them at #2 in the standings for Region 10 DII Baseball East. 

FTCC vs. Bryant & Stratton

Game One- 3-0, Win

The Trojans scored first and it was enough to win the nine-inning shut out. 

In the bottom of the first, Dylan Vazquez (Bega Baja, PR) was hit by pitch and Jordan Wright (Rocky Mount, NC) singled to left field to put two baserunners on. With two outs, Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA) hit an RBI single to left field to give the Trojans their first run. Eythan Reynolds (Pinehurst, NC) added two more with his single up the middle. 

Ricky Montalvo (Inman, SC) started on the bump and pitched the first six innings earning the win for the Trojans. He gave up only four hits with seven strikeouts allowing no runs. Chris Layton (Four Oaks, NC) came on to close out the game throwing the final two innings, striking out four of the 12 batters he faced. 

Feldman went 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and Reynolds was 1-3 with two RBIs.

Game two- 2-1, Win

The Trojans scored first again, plating one run in each the first and second innings. 

Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL) hit a two-out double to score Phil Williams (Wilmington, NC) who leadoff the game with a infield single to shortstop. 

In the second, Koa Kloehs (Suwannee, GA) smacked a double off the left field center fence and Chase Goodwin (Lawrenceville, GA) followed with another double in the exact same spot to plate Kloehs from second base. 

The Bobcats pulled within one with a solo homerun to leadoff the fourth, but were unable to score anymore in the final three innings. 

Jacob Chavis (Pembroke, NC) threw a complete game going all seven innings on the bump. He gave up only three hits, two walks and he had eight strikeouts. 

Williams went 3-4 at the plate scoring one run with a stolen base. Khabie was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Kristian Scales (Madison, NC) went 3-3 at the plate with a stolen base.

Game three- 3-2, Win (10-innings)

In game three, the Bobcats struck first with a two-run homerun in the top of the seventh to score the first runs of the game. 

The Trojans responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the game back up scoring two runs themselves. 

Williams drew a one-out walk and Vazquez singled. Both baserunners moved up to scoring position on a wild pitch which allowed Wright a RBI groundball to score Williams from third base. Khabie then singled on a line drive with two outs to right field to push across the tying run. 

The game went to extras and the Trojans earned a walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning. 

Jerremy Miller (Keystone Heights, FL) came in to pinch hit with two outs and singled to right field. Scales then hit a hard ball to the third baseman and beat it out at first base to put two runners on. Williams hit a walk-off line drive to right field to score Miller from second base to win the game.

Israel Moore (Lakeville, MN) threw nine innings giving up only three hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Jackson Sherron (Wendell, NC) came in to throw the 10th inning facing three batters to get the win.

Baseball is away this week as they head to Robeson on Wednesday for a conference mid-week at 6PM. Then they will head to Winterville for their next conference weekend series against Pitt on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is set for 1PM.
