The 2025-2026 athletic year for Trojan Athletics was one for the books. Out of the five sports, three teams set a new program wins record and those same three head coaches received Coach of the Year from Region 10. Not only did the student-athletes accomplish and succeed on the field or court, they had a stellar year in the classroom.
In the Fall semester, the department had 19 4.0 GPA students and 25 earned Region 10 All-Academic Honors (Volleyball, M/W Basketball). For the Spring semester, there were 12 4.0 GPA students and 39 earned Region 10 All-Academic honors (M/W Basketball, Softball, Baseball).
Starting off the year in August with Volleyball Season, the Trojans went 25-6 overall with a 15-game winning streak. The previous wins record was 20 wins. They also broke a lot of team records and individual single season records at FTCC.
As a team, they set new records for overall wins, kills, total attacks, assists, service aces, digs, total blocks, assisted blocks and points. Leaving out only solo blocks and conference wins. For individual single season records, Kyrie Willis (Cypress, TX) took the top spot with 382 kills, 999 total attacks and 416.5 points for her freshman season. Kayloni Eddings (Pembroke, NC) set new records with 112 total blocks and 96 assisted blocks. The other records were set by Taylor Detrant (Keizer, OR) with 921 assists and Ella Ferrie (Stanchfield, MN) with 75 service aces.
All their success lead them into the Region 10 DII Tournament as the #2 seed where they ended up in the Championship game against Davidson-Davie earning the Runner-Up title to bring back to Fayetteville. Then they still weren’t done yet, qualifying for the Southeast District Tournament they headed to Pellissippi State in Tennessee with a chance to play to advance to the National Tournament.
Volleyball had five earn All-Region honors:
Kyrie Willis- First Team, All-Tournament Team
Ella Ferrie- First Team
Taylor Detrant- First Team
Samantha Harless- Honorable Mention, All-Tournament Team
Coach Moe Licardo- Region 10 DII Coach of the Year
As the year continued, it was onto Basketball season.
Men’s Basketball had an average season with 16 wins qualifying for the Region 10 tournament as the #4 bypassing the play in game. They headed to Raleigh to face off against Central Carolina and fell short in the Quarterfinals.
Cameron Burns (Charlotte, NC) set a new single season record with 147 assists for the program.
Men’s Basketball had three players earn All-Region honors:
Xavier Whitaker- Second Team
Ray Mitchell- Third Team
Cameron Burns- Honorable Mention
Women’s Basketball had a historic season for their program. They finished the year 21-7 setting a new program wins record that was previously 12 wins. The team went on an 11-game winning streak towards the end of their regular season, winning almost the amount of games in a row that was the previous years total wins.
They set new team records in overall wins, conference wins, field goals, assists, steals and points for the program. Elyssa Phillips (Raleigh, NC) set a new individual single season record with 75 3-point baskets made during her freshman season.
Their stellar season took them into the Region 10 Tournament as the #4 seed where they defeated two teams including #1 seed Bryant & Stratton College to make it to the Championship game. After a hard fight against Cleveland, the team came home with the Region 10 Runner-Up trophy.
Women’s Basketball had three earn All-Region honors:
Elyssa Phillips- First Team
Amire Banks- Honorable Mention
Coach Peace Shepard- Region 10 DII Coach of the Year
Now, heading on to spring sports. Softball and Baseball were in full swing already once basketball season ended.
Softball had a tough season finishing their year with five wins, setting a new team record hitting 14 triples.
They did not qualify for the Region 10 Tournament and ended their season on Sophomore Day after regular season play had concluded.
Softball had one earn All-Region honors:
Heather Haggard- Second Team Utility
Baseball had a big season, breaking a new program wins record with 32 and going on a 15-game winning streak in the middle of their season. They set new team records in overall wins, conference wins and strikeouts from their pitching staff. They lead all season with the top three arms in ERA in the Region 10 DII standings.
Some players set new individual single season records including Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL) who had 14 homeruns and 54 runs batted in. Ricky Montalvo (Inman, SC) had 88 strikeouts, Brantley Hayward (Plant City, FL) with 320 putouts and Phil Williams (Wilmington, NC) had 49 stolen bases.
Baseball went into the Region 10 Tournament as the #2 seed on the East side. They fell short in their first two games of the tournament to be eliminated.

Ricky Montalvo- Pitcher of the Year, First Team Pitcher
Israel Moore- First Team Pitcher
Toufic Khabie- First Team Designated Hitter
Jacob Chavis- Second Team East Pitcher
Phil Williams- Second Team East Outfielder
Koa Kloehs- All-Defensive Team
Coach Nic Love- Region 10 DII Coach of the Year
