Flier for the Youth Dental Fair

Fayetteville Technical Community College is proud to work with our community partners to host a free Youth Dental Health Fair on Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Horace Sisk Gymnasium.

Students from FTCC’s Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs will provide free dental screenings for children ages 3-12. The event will also include educational presentations, special guest appearances, prizes and fun for the whole family.

The event is sponsored by a grant from the United Way of Cumberland County’s Youth Growth Stock Trust and is possible through the support of Crest, Oral-B and P&G Professional Oral Health.

Michelle Ping, FTCC’s Dental Division Chair, and Dental Hygiene Instructor Jessica Jones worked with FTCC Foundation to write the grant and organized the fair.

Ping said the event will provide each child and family with a basic foundation of proper oral health care, while giving FTCC students the chance to gain real-world experience.

“Statistics in North Carolina indicate approximately one-quarter of kindergarten-aged children suffer from untreated tooth decay,” Ping said. “This dental health program will serve a dual purpose: educating the youth within our community and aiding curriculum students by providing an opportunity to perform community dental health services.”
