Baseball traveled to Whiteville, North Carolina for their last conference series of the regular season. They went into the series needing all three games to get the #2 East seed and they did just that.
They finished their regular season 32-21 overall and 28-14 in conference play, the best season in program history.
The Region 10 DII Tournament starts Thursday, May 7 at Grainger Stadium in Kinston, North Carolina. The Trojans will face #3 West seed Wake Tech at 10AM for the first round.
FTCC vs. Southeastern-Whiteville
Game One- 12-4, Win
The Trojans took the lead with a run in the third inning and then continued to add to that for the remainder of the game.
Four players had two hits at the plate: Jordan Wright (Rocky Mount, NC), Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL), Brantley Hayward (Plant City, FL) and Eythan Reynolds (Pinehurst, NC).
Khabie and Reynolds each had a homerun in the game, while Phil Williams (Wilmington, NC), Jackson Rainey (Eastover, NC) and Khabie all had doubles.
Ricky Montalvo (Inman, SC) started on the bump going five innings with four strikeouts to get the win.
Game Two- 18-6, Win (6-innings)
The Trojans had 15 hits at the plate to score their 18 runs.
Khabie had his second homerun of the series along with another double and Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA) also had a double.
Hayward and Khabie each had four RBIs. Williams scored three runs and had two stolen bases.
Jacob Chavis (Prospect, NC) got the win throwing five innings with seven strikeouts. Elijah Green (Summerfield, NC) came on in relief closing out the final sixth inning.
Game Three- 11-1, Win
The Trojans got on the board early in the first and then slowly added every inning but two.
Two more homeruns were hit at the plate coming from Khabie and Wright. Williams and Khabie each had a double.
Israel Moore (Lakeville, MN) pitched the first three innings with four strikeouts. He was relieved by Reno Jeter (Asheville, NC), Grayson Stafford (Stedman, NC), Chase Paullin (Fuquay-Varina, NC) and Jackson Sherron (Wendell, NC).
