Women’s Basketball is on a five game winning streak going into the last three weeks of regular season games. They traveled to Brunswick CC and beat the Dolphins to tie the program wins record which was previously 12 wins. Then they hosted Denmark Tech and Catawba Valley last week to improve to 14-6 overall and 10-5 in conference play. 

FTCC vs. Brunswick: 64-48, Win

The Trojans started from ahead and continued to dominate the Dolphins through the remainder of the game. 

Elyssa Phillips (Raleigh, NC) had 14 points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Tateyawna Faison (Mt. Olive, NC) and Gabby Locklear (Lumberton, NC) each had 11 points. Faison also had 11 rebounds for a double double game. 

Hannah Reames (Bishopville, SC) scored 10 points with six steals and three assists. Taleah Meadows (Baltimore, MD) had eight rebounds and three steals. 

Nahmiah Aekins (Hope Mills, NC) shot a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line and had five rebounds.

FTCC vs. Denmark Tech: 62-58, Win

After starting the game with eight points each after the first quarter, the Trojans go into halftime with a one point lead. Both teams continued to battle throughout the second half with the Trojans pulling slightly ahead winning every quarter. 

Phillips had 22 points to lead the Trojan offense, along with seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. Aekins added 12 points coming off the bench and three rebounds. 

Aaliyah McRae (Fayetteville, NC) had eight points with four rebounds and four steals. Meadows lead the defense with 11 rebounds and Faison had six.

FTCC vs. Catawba Valley: 60-53, Win

The Trojans hosted the Red Hawks Friday night for a makeup conference game. The Trojans were down by one point after the first quarter, but scored the same 12 points in the second to be down by only one at halftime. They came back on the court after the break ready to finish the game scoring 13 points in the third and 22 points in the fourth to pull ahead and earn the conference win. 

Phillips lead the Trojans with 19 points and Amire Banks (Mt. Vernon, GA) had 17 points. Faison and McRae each added seven points for the Trojans. 

Faison lead the defense with nine rebounds. Phillips and Keara Duncan (Fayetteville, NC) each had six rebounds.

The Trojans are back at home on Wednesday night as they host Cleveland for a 5:30 tip. Then they will head to Cape Fear on Friday for a 5PM conference game to end the week.
