Softball hosted Genesee CC from New York yesterday for a non-conference doubleheader. The Trojans took came one by a bottom of the seventh walk off before dropping game two to the Cougars. 

The Trojans are currently 2-12 overall and 0-2 in conference play. 

FTCC vs. Genesee:

Game One- 12-11, Win

The Cougars scored in every inning but the final two and the Trojans battled back to continue to tie the game up before breaking ahead in the final inning. 

Jaden Valdez (Fayetteville, NC) went 3-3 at the plate for the Trojans with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Leah Benjamin (McColl, SC), Halea Joines (Fayetteville, NC) and Leena Santana (Clayton, NC) each had a double in the game. 

Heather Haggard (Grapevine, TX) scored three runs for the Trojans including the final game winning run in the seventh. 

Benjamin and Joines each had three RBIs. 

Haggard started on the mound throwing 2.1 innings and Santana then came on in relief to earn the win for the final 4.2 innings.

Game Two- 5-18, Loss (6-innings)

The Trojans scored their first two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Maya Florido (Fayetteville, NC) walked before Joines hit a triple to earn an RBI. She then scored on an RBI groundball from Olivia Campbell (Grand Ledge, MI). 

Two more Trojan runners touched home plate in the third. Haggard lead off with a single and later scored on an infield single from Liz LeRouge (Spring Lake, NC). Valdez picks up an RBI on her double to score LeRouge from third base. 

The final Trojan run was plated in the fifth on a single from Raven Ross-Gillespie (West End, NC). She hit in LeRouge who lead off the inning with a hit. 

Valdez and Joines each went 2-3 in the game. Haggard and Joines both recorded a triple. 

Haggard started on the mound again for the Trojans throwing five innings and Alexis Walters (Fayetteville, NC) came on to close out the final sixth inning.

Softball will travel to Petersburg, VA this Saturday for a doubleheader against Richard Bland College for their next conference games. First pitch is set for 1PM. The Trojans will return home next Thursday for their Autism Awareness Game against Brunswick at 4PM. All home games are $10 admission (free with FTCC ID) and played at JP Riddle Complex: 2823 Legion Rd.
