Softball hosted the Statesmen in a doubleheader yesterday at JP Riddle Complex. Richard Bland took both games before heading back to Virginia. 

The Trojans are currently 1-9 overall and they will open conference play on Friday against Bryant & Stratton College.

Game One- 1-19, Loss (5-innings)

The Statesmen scored early and often to end the game in five-innings. 

Maggie Drake (Carthage, NC) lead the Trojan offense going 2-3 with a double and RBI. 

The Trojans had a total of six hits in the game from five different players. 

Heather Haggard (Grapevine, TX) started on the mound for the Trojans and was relieved by Alexis Walters (Fayetteville, NC) and Leena Santana (Clayton, NC).

Game Two- 4-16, Loss (5-innings)

In game two, the Statesmen scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Trojans came back in the bottom of the inning to score three to take the lead. 

Haggard hit a leadoff triple to get the inning started and Liz LeRouge (Spring Lake, NC) reached on an error to allow the first run to score. Then Drake tripled to the center field gap to score LeRouge and she later scored herself on a wild pitch. 

Richard Bland responded back in the top of the second scoring nine runs and continued to score every inning. 

One more Trojan run was plated in the fifth when Leah Benjamin (McColl, SC) hit a homerun over the left field fence. 

Haggard and Drake each went 2-2 at the plate with a triple. 

The Trojans used all three pitchers again in game two.

Softball is back at home on Friday for a doubleheader against Bryant & Stratton College to open conference play. First pitch is set for 1PM out at JP Riddle Complex. Admission to games is $10 or free with FTCC ID or children 12 & under.
