Tenette Prevatte, Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer, has been named to the CompTIA Certification Governance Committee.
CompTIA offers a range of industry certifications in a variety of disciplines in cybersecurity and information technology. The CompTIA Certification Governance Committee ensures CompTIA certifications remain fair, accurate and current by providing support and expertise in a timely fashion during the development of the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) certification exams.
The committee is a select group of 12 individuals who have displayed strong expertise in specific technology areas, demonstrated their ability to lead and work well in workshop-type settings and shown impartiality through their actions.
Prevatte is the first woman to be named to the committee. She has over 30 years of experience with network security and Linux. She has been a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CompTIA for 15 years, assisting with exam development for industry exams. She also serves on the CompTIA Infrastructure Certification Advisory Committee and the CompTIA SME Technical Advisory Committee.
“After working with CompTIA certifications for the past 15 years, I am very proud to be selected to the CompTIA Governance Committee as the first female member,” Prevatte said.
Prevatte joined FTCC nearly 21 years ago in March 2005 as the college’s Dean of Computer Information Technology Programs. She accepted the role of Associate VP for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer in January 2023.
She has nearly 30 years of experience with the North Carolina Community College System and has taught classes in Linux and Cisco administration. Additionally, she has served as a technical editor for numerous higher education textbooks in subjects such as network security and digital forensics. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from UNC Wilmington, a MBA from Campbell University and has 20 graduate hours in Computer Science from Radford University and UNC Pembroke.
