
FTCC President Dr. Mark Sorrells accepts PWC’s Excellence in Innovation Award at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s Annual Awards 2026.
Fayetteville Technical Community College is honored to receive PWC’s Excellence in Innovation Award at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s Annual Awards 2026.
FTCC was recognized alongside the year’s other winners in a formal event held at the Cape Fear Valley Health & Neuroscience Institute on Thursday.
PWC’s Excellence in Innovation Award is a prestigious recognition designed to honor organizations or businesses that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to innovation, pushing the boundaries of creativity and problem-solving.
This is the first time that FTCC has been awarded a recipient of the Excellence in Innovation Award, which celebrates those who have made significant strides in creating groundbreaking solutions, products or services that have had a transformative impact on their industry or community.
FTCC was recognized for its role as the region’s workforce engine and its aggressive adoption of emerging technologies in 2025.
“The Excellence in Innovation Award honors the remarkable work of FTCC’s faculty and staff, whose dedication to our students and our region strengthens the talent pipeline that keeps our community moving forward,” FTCC President Dr. Mark Sorrells said. “Their ability to anticipate workforce needs, innovate and adapt rapidly, and champion emerging technologies is fueling economic growth across Fayetteville and Cumberland County. This recognition belongs to them and to the spirit of innovation they bring to our mission every day.”

FTCC is announced as the winner of PWC’s Excellence in Innovation Award at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s Annual Awards 2026.
The college recently received the Innovative Leadership Award from the NC Community College System for its collaboration with Cape Fear Valley Health. FTCC and CFVH have an ongoing partnership designed to address the critical healthcare workforce shortage in the Sandhills region.
FTCC is also recognized as a leader in AI and digital transformation through its implementation of comprehensive training programs. The college was named a Top 25 cybersecurity associate degree program nationally and is designated as Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
