The Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) Foundation is proud to announce a generous food donation from Food Lion Feeds to the FTCC Food Pantry, reinforcing a valued community partnership aimed at eliminating hunger among local college students.

The donation, which included shelf-stable items from Food Lion Feeds’ hunger-relief initiative, will directly benefit currently enrolled FTCC students facing food insecurity. Food Lion Feeds has been a national leader in hunger relief since its founding in 2014, donating more than 1.5 billion meals to communities across its 10-state footprint in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

“Partnerships like this one with Food Lion Feeds are absolutely vital to FTCC and the students we serve,” FTCC President Dr. Mark Sorrells said. “Food insecurity is a very real barrier to academic success. When a student is worried about their next meal, it is difficult to stay focused on earning a degree and building a future. This generous contribution helps us ensure that our students can stay in school, stay on track, and succeed, and we are incredibly grateful to Food Lion Feeds for investing in our
community and our students.”

About the FTCC Food Pantry

The FTCC Food Pantry opened Nov. 17, 2020, and has since served as a critical resource for students in need. Located at the back of the Horace Sisk Building at 2204 Hull Road, accessible off FTCC Access Road, the pantry operates like a traditional grocery store and is designed to provide a dignified shopping experience.

“Any currently enrolled FTCC student, whether enrolled in curriculum or continuing education programs, is eligible to use the Food Pantry with a valid school ID,” FTCC Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Hammond said. “Students may shop once per month during any semester in which they are enrolled, choosing items by family size category (1–2 members or 3+ members). Faculty and staff may also utilize the pantry.”

The Food Pantry is stocked exclusively with shelf-stable items and does not carry frozen or perishable food. Most-needed items include canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM), canned soups, canned fruits and vegetables, dried pasta, rice, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, and single-serve microwavable meals. Grocery gift cards in denominations of $25–$50 are also especially welcome.

Current Pantry Hours

The Food Pantry’s hours vary by semester based on the availability of work-based learning students who staff the pantry. Current hours are:

  • Monday–Thursday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m.–noon

Students who need food pantry services but cannot visit campus during open hours may call campus security, who will provide a pre-packaged bag for pickup.
