Women’s Basketball achieved a great accomplishment this season by earning the most number of wins in program history for overall and in conference. They finished the 2023-24 season being 12-16 overall and 11-13 in conference play. This is a huge improvement from last year as the 2022-23 team had only five wins overall and zero conference wins.

Freshman Nyla Mitchell from Lumberton, NC was the leading scorer for the Trojans this season. She finished the year with 330 points, 48 steals and shooting 70% from the free throw line. Another freshman from Lumberton, NC, Carly Hammonds, was right behind her with 300 points.

Joy Ezeh led the Trojans in rebounds finishing with 235 total rebounds and 100 offensive rebounds, three more than she had last season. Another big impact player for the Trojans was sophomore Danielle Jackson. She ended her FTCC career this year with 178 total rebounds, 291 points and 32 blocks. Luisa Monsalve had the most assists with 117 and finished her sophomore season with 221 points.

The Trojans scored 286 more points then they did last season and finished as the #7 seed in Region 10 DII Women’s Basketball out of 13 teams. They hosted the First Round of the conference tournament at Reid Ross against Johnston Community College and came out on top winning 61-56. Carly Hammonds scored 16 points for the Trojans in the first round helping her team reach the Quarterfinals of the conference tournament for the first time in program history.

The squad traveled to Bolivia, NC to play the next round of the tournament against #2 Cape Fear. The Trojans fell 50-70, but put up a hard fight against the Sea Devils. Luisa Monsalve led the Trojans with 17 points and Joy Ezeh had 12 rebounds.

Some of the players made a run at the school record books, earning top five honors.

Three of the Trojans were named with Region 10 DII Women’s Basketball honors. Nyla Mitchell and Danielle Jackson earned honorable mention and Sydney Bell was Academic All-Region.
