Fayetteville Technical Community College (College) acknowledges the College was awarded a Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act award from the Department of Education (Department)
The College was funded $2,956,887 from the Department pursuant to the College’s Certification of Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
As of the date of this report, the College distributed $2,448,000 to students.
The estimated total number of the College’s students eligible to participate in the programs under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSA Act is 9,016.
As of the date of this report, the total number of students who received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSA Acts is 2,594.
The methods used by the College to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants, including how much a student would receive under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSA Act have been determined. See Exhibit 1.
Curriculum students who are eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant received email notifications. See Exhibit 2.
Curriculum students who are eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant must complete an online application to request funding. Continuing education students who are eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant must complete a paper application available in eligible classes. See Exhibit 3.

Eligibility criteria includes the following:
- Student is enrolled in a curriculum degree program or continuing education course at least 96 hours in length and course is an Occupation Extension/Workforce training course(s).
- Student has a high school diploma or GED.
- Student is a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible noncitizen.
Curriculum students must complete an online application by logging into student’s individual student e-forms and submitting an application. As part of this process, student attests their need is related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
Curriculum awards range from $500 to $2,000 as listed below:
- 1-5 credit hours: $500
- 6-8 credit hours: $1,000
- 9-11 credit hours: $1,500
- 12 or more credit hours: $2,000
Continuing education students must complete an application for awards. Continuing education student awards are $500 per term. As part of this process, student attests their need is related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus and/or other emergency costs that have arisen due to COVID-19.

Email sent on February 19th to students with an ISIR on file and a zero EFC who were registered for SP21 classes.

Dear Student:

FTCC received an additional allocation of federal funds for the purpose of providing emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 and/or other emergency costs associate with COVID-19. Student who are experiencing financial hardship and need financial assistance for tuition/fees, books, instructional supplies, technology, food, housing, health care (including mental health), childcare or other personal expenses including transportation may apply for a federal emergency financial aid grant. All students may apply for a grant, but first priority will be given to students identified with exceptional need. Unlike the initial round of emergency student aid grants, students do not have to be Title IV eligible to participate, but FTCC will use the federally calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) to determine exceptional need. Sixty percent of FTCC’s federal funds have been set aside to ensure priority is given to these students. Students taking classes 100% online are also eligible emergency assistance in round two. Enrollment in future terms is not a condition for receipt of funds.

Awards range from $500 to $2000 per term based on registration hours during the term of the grant application. Students may apply for a grant using their E-forms in WebAdvisor or Self Service. The name of the application document is “COVID-19 Federal Award Application”. Awards and the distribution of funds will begin within the next few weeks and continue until the allocation has been exhausted.

Students will be sent an email when the funds are disbursed. The amount of the disbursement is calculated based on the number of credits the student is in for classes that have started and the student remains actively enrolled. The disbursement amounts are listed below:

$2000: 12 credits
$1500: 9 – 11 credits
$1000: 6 – 8 credits
$500: 1 – 5 credits

Students do not have to be eligible to participate in Title IV programs to be eligible for an award, but FTCC will use the federally calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine exceptional need. FTCC has set aside 60% of the available funds for students with exceptional need. Students taking classes 100% online are also eligible. Enrollment in future terms is not a condition of receipt of a grant.
