Tabitha McLamb, a 26-year-old native of Jacksonville, N.C., graduated from FTCC on May 12, 2023, with an associate degree in Paralegal Technology. McLamb, a mother of two children ages 5 and 3, transitioned from a career in Nursing to pursue her interest the Paralegal field.

“I was a CNA, and I love Nursing, but I fell into the law accidentally. I had the opportunity to work in a legal office after I had my kid and left Nursing, so I switched over to the Paralegal program, and the instructors were amazing. I focused on personal injury, so it was a lot of medical terms and that wasn’t as hard for me to transition to.

“I worked the first few semesters, and then I stopped working and went to school full time. I mainly went to school online, but we used (the digital classroom tool) Collaborate, and it was great. It felt like we were in a classroom with our classmates. Most of us paralegal students did that. It was just harder to be in class, work and take care of kids, so to have the opportunity to take it online was great.”
