FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — FTCC volleyball cruised to a straight set win over Rockingham CC on Saturday, Sept. 28, in the final contest of a Trojan-hosted tri-match featuring the Eagles and Surry CC.

The Trojans, who improved to 6-5 with the win, played without starting libero AnnMarie Miller, who had been injured in the day’s first match.

The match took just under an hour, as the Trojans pulled away early in each set and kept errors to a minimum.

Sophomore Da’Nya McPhatter and freshman Alexis Spexarth each scored 11 kills. Spexarth’s 11 kills in 17 attempts put her at a kill percentage of .471 for the match, while McPhatter registered at .391.

The Trojans were particularly efficient at the service line, combining for 15 aces. Sophomore Anna Grey Barbour led the way with six, while Krislyn Bullard and Paige Stalnaker recorded five and four, respectively.

Bullard had 18 assists.

The Trojans wrap up a four-match homestead Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 5:30 p.m. against Wake Tech. FTCC will then play five away matches in a nine-day stretch before returning home for a tri-match Oct. 12 against Louisburg and USC Salkehatchie.
