Employees from Piedmont Natural Gas have generously donated food and personal care items to the FTCC Food Pantry.
A group representing PNG employees in its operation center and call center in Fayetteville brought the donations to the food pantry.
“We just try to be involved in the community as much as we can,” said Marty Marler, supervisor of gas customer field operations. He said he worked with call center manager Felicia Thompson to gather the donations.
Tammy Thurman, the utility’s government and community relations manager and a member of FTCC’s Board of Trustees, said the food pantry’s mission of assisting students facing financial hardship touched the hearts of PNG employees in Fayetteville.
“We are so proud to partner with FTCC,” she said. “It’s a no-brainer when you want to help people.”
Thurman and Marler were joined in bringing the donation to the pantry by Cashell Kershaw, supervisor of customer experience, and Ilia Sharp, gas work coordinator.
Marlina Pineiro, director of student activities at FTCC, and Sandy Ammons, executive director of FTCC Foundation, thanked the PNG employees for the donation. “This means so much,” Pineiro said. “Thank you.”
The FTCC Food Pantry provides food, household products and personal care items for FTCC students who are facing financial hardship.
