mens bballMen’s Basketball completed their 2023-24 season last Thursday night in Wilmington, NC. They made it past the First Round of the conference tournament defeating Johnston Community College by 25 points on Monday, March 4. Gerren Jones was the leading scorer for the Trojans that night with 17 points to help his team make it back to the Quarterfinals of the conference tournament. 

The Trojans faced off with Bryant & Stratton in the next round, meeting for the third time this season. The Bobcats came out on top 89-78 ending the season for the Trojans. Melquan Jackson and David McCallum each scored 17 points in the Quarterfinal game. Tristin Harkins had eight assists and five steals and Gerren Jones added six rebounds. 

Jones was the leading scorer for the Trojans this season scoring 595 points, a new school record. He also shot 83% from the free throw line making 194 baskets breaking another school record. Aldrick Ke Edwards led the Trojan defense this year with 215 rebounds. Harkins broke the school record for steals ending the season with 71. 

The Trojans had their third 20 win season in a row under the leadership of Head Coach- Brian Hurd and Assistant Coach- Deshawn McCain. Coach Hurd hit 100 wins last season and that number only continues to grow. 

Men’s Basketball had two players earn NJCAA Region 10 DII Men’s Basketball Honors. Gerren Jones was the Offensive Player of the Year- First Team All-Region and Tristin Harkins earned Honorable Mention as a freshman. 

Some of the players made it into the school record book, breaking into the top five in most categories.
