Lyon, originally from Illinois, came to FTCC from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL, where she worked for 19 years. She began her career in higher education as Carl Sandburg’s Director of TRIO Student Support Services, then moved into the Dean of Student Success position. Before joining FTCC this month, she was Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Planning at Carl Sandburg.
Misty Lyon, Dean of Enrollment Management
Prior to her time in higher education, Lyon ran a children’s group home and an adult day program for individuals with disabilities. She also served as the Director of Staff Development and Safety before accepting the position with Sandburg.
Lyon earned her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and her master’s degree at Western Illinois University. She is currently working on her EdD degree from Northern Illinois University and plans to graduate this May. She has an older sister, who lives in Missouri; a younger sister and brother, who live in Iowa; and 11 nieces and nephews. She is happy to join the FTCC team and is overjoyed to be away from the snow and ice that comes along with the Illinois winters.
