Transition Tech

Earn industry-recognized credentials to give you an edge in the civilian workforce.

Transition Tech is a training program for transitioning military service members that provides industry-focused certificates and credentials, resume assistance, and mock interview opportunities designed to prepare you to enter the civilian workforce.

Each Transition Tech student will complete 3 days of Human Resource Development to prepare for resumes and interviews with industry employers.

CDL Truck Driver Training

This course is an initial 5-week CDL training program. Topics include operation of a tractor-trailer, pre/post trip inspections, driving practice, trip planning, service log reporting and all applicable rules and regulations for CDL, Class A drivers.

This program is in partnership with Stevens Transport.

Course Specific Requirements
• Approval and acceptance from Stevens Transport is required
• Stevens Transport Application (becomeadriver.com)
• Must complete an additional five (5) weeks training OTR with Stevens Transport
• Current NC driver’s license
• Social Security Card
• NCDOT Physical and Drug Screening

Changing Lanes

This course is an eighteen (18) week auto body technician training program. Topics include safety, tool identification, vehicle disassembly and reassembly, plastic welding and repair, metal welding and repair.

This program is in partnership with Caliber Collision.

Computer & Information Technology (IT)

CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+

This course is an eight (8) week program designed to prepare students for the CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ exams. Students will learn about hardware, operating systems, networking, security and troubleshooting as well as more specialized topics such as mobile devices, laptops, and printers.

Candidates from the 25-series MOS are recommended to apply; however, all candidates with necessary experience and qualifications will be considered.

This course also incorporates a Human Resource Development (HRD) session which assists in civilian resume writing as well as techniques and etiquette tips for interviewing.

EMT Basic

This course is a twelve (12) week program which provides training in the first phase of the EMT career structure. Topics include basic emergency care skills, such as defibrillation, airway maintenance, CPR, spinal immobilization, bleeding control, and fracture management. This class exceeds National Registry stand for EMT certification. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the North Carolina State and/or National Registry Certification Exams.

This course also incorporates a Human Resource Development (HRD) session which assists in civilian resume writing as well as techniques and etiquette tips for interviewing.

Course Specific Requirements

• All students must comply with the immunization policy and provide proof of the following:
• Hepatitis B
• MMR
• Varicella (Chicken Pox)
• Current PPD (Tuberculosis screening within a 6-month time period)

Copies of all immunizations and screenings must be submitted to the lead instructor by the second week of class. Failure to comply will exclude the student from further participation in the EMT Basic course.

• Students must wear program approved uniforms. The program instructor will provide uniform requirements.

• Liability insurance is required. The cost is $14.00 and is due on the day of program registration.

Gas Line Distribution

This course is an eight (8) week program to train students in the operating procedures for all phases of operations on a gas distribution team. Safety training will include OSHA 10 and OSHA 30. Topics include operating procedures and equipment checks, worksite safety, gas fusion, and utilization of industry specific equipment.

Logistics

OSHA 30, Lean Six Sigma/Yellow Belt

This course is an eleven (11) day program which will prepare you for a career in logistics, supply, safety, and/or process improvement. The course covers tools and concepts for implementation of process improvement strategies in a manufacturing environment, as well as OSHA policies, procedures, standards and safety/health principles.

This course also incorporates a Human Resource Development (HRD) session which assists in civilian resume writing as well as techniques and etiquette tips for interviewing.

Pipe Welding

This course is a sixteen (16) week pipe welding and pipe fitting program utilizing the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum to provide welding and pipe fitting standards for maritime construction.

This program is in partnership with Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Solar Ready Vets

Sun with Chevron Solar Ready VetsThis course is a seven (7) week program designed to provide all facets of knowledge and skills necessary to prepare a student to pass the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) entry level 1 exam. Topics include training in basic electrical, basic construction, OSHA 30 construction, and Photovoltaic instruction.

This course also incorporates a Human Resource Development (HRD) session which assists in civilian resume writing as well as techniques and etiquette tips for interviewing.

CATV Communications/Cabling & Fiber Optics I

This twelve (12) week course will provide students with the technical skills used to construct, design, troubleshoot, and maintain CATV Systems, as well as teach the basic of fiber optics, fiber-optic networks, fiber-optic splicing procedures, fiber-optic analysis and testing equipment. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will have the option to take the Fiber Optic Association CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) certification exam.

This course also incorporates a Human Resource Development (HRD) session which assists in civilian resume writing as well as techniques and etiquette tips for interviewing.

Course Specific Requirements
• Students are required to purchase accident insurance in the amount of $2.00 which is payable at the time of registration
• OSHA approved climbing boots are required; approximate cost is $125.00
