GuideRowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is excited to share information regarding our upcoming 3rd annual free virtual Growth, Understanding, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (G.U.I.D.E.) Conference, scheduled for November 18, 2022. We want to invite all D.E.I. advocates to submit a proposal to present! Details and the link to submit proposals are below. The deadline date is September 15th, but if you need extra time to submit your proposal, please respond to this email with a day you will be able to submit your proposal.

 Purpose of the Conference

Our society’s current social and political moment calls for higher education to be better equipped to address and redress historical racial inequities. In addition, highly publicized events during 2021-2022, including the pandemic, have brought attention to long-standing structural inequalities determining different life outcomes for other social groups.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Growth, Understanding, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (G.U.I.D.E.) Conference seeks to create a learning space for professionals in educational institutions and community-based organizations to celebrate achievements, be inspired by best practices, and learn how to drive change in their homes, institutions, and organizations. The G.U.I.D.E. Conference brings together speakers with different areas of expertise.

Our Goal

The Diversity and Inclusion Team’s G.U.I.D.E. Conference aims to advance the D.E.I. Issues in Higher Ed, K-12 schools, communities, and workplace industries by building community and competency among all levels of employees and will cover D.E.I. subjects such as Identity and Belonging; Organizational Diversity; Community Diversity and Governance; Education and Learning Differences; Implicit Bias; Norms/Discomfort in D.E.I. Conversations; Strategies and Potential Trends with African American Males in Higher Ed, Breaking Down Barriers Present Day, Gender Identity, Equity, and Engagement; L.G.B.T.Q.I.A. and more.
