Competitive Admissions Process Information

All Allied Health programs (with the exception of those noted below) require a secondary Health Program Application and Competitive Admissions Process due to limited seating.

Central Sterile Processing
EMS-Bridge (for current Paramedics)
Mammography Certificate (for current ARRT Certification in Radiography)
Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant or Surgical First Assistant

High School Seniors – Current High School seniors who have met the eligibility requirements shown below will need to request a “manual” health program application via email to healthproadmissions@faytechcc.edu     At that time, a Health Programs Admissions Form will be emailed back for completion and next steps.


Eligibility Requirements

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ALLIED HEALTH PROGRAM APPLICANTS:

–   Apply to FTCC and declare your program of study (preferably 1-2 semester prior to the application window) https://www.faytechcc.edu/apply-now/ftcc-admissions/#steps

–   Turn in Official copy of High School Transcript/GED or HiSet and all pertinent College transcripts to FTCC Admissions

  • Cumulative GPA Requirements: All programs require a minimum 2.0 Cumulative GPA; (this is the GPA of all course work completed at FTCC).
  • Health GPA Requirements: All degree programs require a minimum of 2.5 Health GPA; Diploma programs require a minimum of 2.0 Health GPA. The Health GPA is the GPA of all the related courses that earn competitive points).

PROGRAM SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Below are the program-specific requirements to be eligible to complete the secondary Health Program Application to compete for a seat in these programs.

SPECIAL NOTES TO ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Related Science courses of the programs must be no more than 5 years old and Health Programs do not allow more than 2 unsuccessful attempts without prior written approval by the program Department Chair.
  • The following programs require a “B” or higher grade in the related Science courses (Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, etc.): Dental Hygiene, Pharmacy Tech, Physical Therapist Asst., Radiography, Speech-Language Pathology-Asst and Surgical Technology.
  • The following programs require a “C” or higher grade in the related Science courses: Dental Assisting, EMS, Medical Laboratory Tech, Medical Sonography, Polysomnography & Respiratory Therapy.

When are Allied Health program applications accepted?

Allied Health Programs

  • The Health Program Application window for ALL Allied Health programs is
    • November 1 through midnight on January 30 each year to compete for the following August entry.
  • The Pharmacy Technology program will continue to take applications beyond January 30 each year for applicants to enter in January as well.
  • Several of our Allied Health programs also Re-Open the application for several months to gain additional applicants based on the number of initial applicants.

Which programs have re-opened the application?

Some programs will “Re-Open” the application window if they did not receive the total number of applicants the program can fill. The following Allied Health Programs have “re-opened” the health application to receive additional applicants to compete for a seat for the August 2024 entry.

How do I complete the application for Allied Health?

  • Click on this button below and log in with your FTCC username and password.
  • Select Apply for Program at the bottom.
  • Select Program from the Drop-Down list and Submit
  • A receipt will show on the screen for you to save for your records.

  • Monitor your FTCC Student Email for applicant status updates which will start approximately 6-8 weeks after the application window closes..

What Are the Next Steps in the Application Process?

  • Record Audits and Notifications
    • The applicant records will be audited after the application window closes
    • Initial competitive points will be awarded for the designated related courses that earn competitive points and are completed before the end of the applicant window.
    • All applicants will receive a Health Applicant Rating Form (HARF) 6-8 weeks after the application window closes. This form will show eligibility status and “Initial” competitive points.
    • Each program has a Competitive Point Worksheet that outlines how applicants may earn “extra” competitive points. Applicants can review these worksheets on program webpages.
    • About 1-2 weeks after HARFs are emailed the Departments will notify all ELIGIBLE applicants about attending a “required” information session or explain how to turn in documents to earn “extra” competitive points. Failure to attend or follow instructions could result in removal from the applicant list.

  • Selection Emails
    • After the “extra” competitive points are tallied and added to the initial points, the eligible applicant roster will be sorted and applicants will be placed in order of MOST points with Category I applicants above Category II.
    • Each program will select the top # of applicants based on their maximum seats allowed and then identify a number of alternates.

    • Emails will be sent to all applicants as follows:  Conditional Selected, Alternate or Not-Selected
    • All Conditional Selected applicants must ACCEPT their seat within 10 days.  If a seat is Declined or not accepted, alternates will be offered a seat in the order of highest to lowest points.

How do I accept my seat if I have been conditionally selected?

  • If you have received a Conditionally Selected email, you must follow the instructions in the email to ACCEPT your seat. Here is the link to the “required” Response Card 


What’s next after I accept my seat?

  • All students who accept their seat will be coded to the Health Program Health that they applied and accepted a seat for. They will also receive a Welcome Letter/Packet from their Department and must follow all instructions.
  • Criminal Background Checks
    • Criminal Background Checks
    • Students may be prohibited from clinical education at specific clinical affiliates based on background check results which could prevent students from progressing in their respective health programs.
  • Health Field Responsibilities
    • Students may be required to care for clients in settings (i.e. lifting and positioning patients, using both hands to perform tasks, reacting to emergencies, walking fast, etc.)
    • o   Reasonable accommodations will be made to assist students with special needs, but accommodations which are deemed to threaten client safety are not considered reasonable and will not be granted.

What happens after I apply to a Health Program?

 

The applicant records will be audited after the application window closes. Competitive points will be awarded for the General Education courses that are completed before the application window closes.

 

May I apply to more than one Health program?

 

Students may apply to only one health program. If not selected for that program, the applicant may apply to another “re-opened” program.

 

What if I change my mind about the program I chose after I submit the application?

 

You must email healthproadmissions@faytechcc.edu and notify them that you selected the incorrect program and verify which program you wish to apply to.

 

Can I graduate from the Associate in General Education-Health(A10300H) program?

 

This is a place holder program and students cannot graduate from it. You are taking courses toward a health program while in this place holder program. If you wish to graduate from a general degree while waiting for a seat in the Health program, you should add a program second major such as Associate in Science A10400 or Associate in Arts A10100.
