What is an Academic Agreement?

An Academic Agreement is helpful for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution. FTCC has agreements with various colleges, universities, and educational facilities that determine what credits will transfer.

Enrollment Verification

Fayetteville Technical Community College has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide both enrollment verification and degree verification to qualified requestors. Current and past students may obtain these documents through National Student Clearinghouse website.

FERPA Consent

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

FERPA (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the rights have transferred are “eligible students.”

FTCC has collaborated with iGrad to provide a free online money management program for students & alumni. When you sign up for iGrad you will build a customized profile & a plan to improve your money management, career, and student loan skills. There are quick start financial lessons, video tips, scholarship opportunities, etc!

Program Evaluation

Program Evaluation, also called Degree Audit, is a powerful tool in Self-Service used for planning your courses. You can view your degree requirements, completed courses, and the courses you still need to take. You can even explore other programs and see how your completed coursework will apply to a different degree.

Note: The degree audit is not your official academic record. Go to Self-Service to access your unofficial transcript, or Request an Official Transcript.

Accessing Program Evaluation

  1. Login to Self-Service
  2. Select Student Planning
  3. Select My Progress

Here you will see your progress of the current programs you are registered for. You can use the arrows at the top to toggle between programs. Scrolling down will show the courses you’ve already taken in green, the ones you still need to take in red, and the ones that are registered or planned in yellow.

Student Advising

  • Each student is assigned an advisor based on his or her program of study.
  • Your advisor will help you register for the classes you need to stay on track for graduation, and can offer counsel if you have any questions.
  • If you have not been approved for a program of study, you are considered a Special Credit student and will not have an assigned advisor.

Who is My Advisor?

Follow the steps below to find the name and contact information for your advisor:

  1.  Login to Self-Service
  2. Click on Student Planning
  3. Go to Plan & Schedule
  4. Select the Advising Tab

Your advisor will be listed here. You can click on their name and send them a direct email. If you have not been assigned an advisor please contact the dean or department chair for your program for assistance.

Understanding Course Section Codes

FTCC uses codes to designate course sections. Each course section includes up to four letters with a number to specify the session, location, type, and time for that section.

1st Digit

The first digit designates the course session and length:

  • 0 – 16 week
  • 1 – 1st 8-week
  • 2- 2nd 8-week
  • 5 – Off Cycle
  • 6 – 1st Four Week Session
  • 7 – 2nd Four Week Session
  • 8 – 3rd Four Week Session
  • 9 – 4th Four Week Session
