Academic Advising:
Here to Support Your Success

FTCC Advising

Academic Advising plays a vital role in student success. At FTCC, advising is more than course selection—it’s a partnership focused on helping you clarify your goals, stay on track academically, and confidently move toward graduation, transfer, or your chosen career path. Your advisor is here to help you:

  • Explore your interests, clarify academic and career goals, and choose the right program of study
  • Build an academic plan and select courses that keep you on track for graduation or transfer
  • Prepare for registration each semester and understand program requirements
  • Navigate challenges and connect with campus resources that support your success
  • Plan for transfer to a four-year college or university or make changes to your program when needed

Our Advising Model:  FTCC uses a guided advising model designed to support students where they are and help them grow in confidence and independence. First-year and returning students begin with a staff advisor who provides consistent, hands-on support as they transition into college, explore career interests, and develop strong academic habits.

Once students demonstrate readiness—such as maintaining good academic standing, showing confidence in their program and career direction, and successfully navigating college expectations—they transition to working with a faculty advisor. This progression ensures you receive the right level of support at the right time, while preparing you for long-term academic and career success.
