Volleyball hosted two more matches last week facing the #22 Sea Devils of Cape Fear and USC-Sumter for a Dig Pink game. The Trojans came out on top in both matches after a lot of battling.
They have improved to 22-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play, breaking the overall wins record for the program which previously was 20 wins. The Trojans are sitting in first place currently in Region 10 entering the last week of conference play and their regular season.
FTCC vs. Cape Fear 3-2, Win
The match was a battle until the end. The Trojans secured the first set, but dropped set two and three to fall behind the Sea Devils. Taking set four pushed the match to it’s fifth set which is set to go to 15 points, but ended up being 19-17. Both teams battled, but the Trojans took the victory and jumped ahead of Cape Fear in the Region standings.
Kyrie Willis (Cypress, TX) had a big 21 kills for the Trojans along with five digs and two blocks. Ella Ferrie (Stanchfield, MN) finished with 12 kills, three service aces and 23 digs.
Bre Harrison (Greenwood, SC) and Sammy Harless (St. George, UT) both ended the match with nine kills each. Harrison had four blocks and Harless earned six blocks.
Taylor Detrant ( Keizer, OR) set up 37 of the Trojans 55 kills and had 14 digs and one block. Addison Hudson (Wade, NC) had 13 digs and five assists along with Madison Carter (Benson, NC) who had 12 digs and four assists.
Kayloni Eddings (Pembroke, NC) ended the match with five blocks, adding to her school records of total blocks and assisted blocks.
FTCC vs. USC-Sumter: 3-0, Win
The Trojans hosted the Fire Ants for an exciting Dig Pink match on Thursday night. They let Sumter hang around in all three sets, but pushed through to win the first three.
Ferrie lead the Trojan offense with 11 kills, she also had eight digs and four blocks. Willis finished with nine kills to add to her school kill record.
Harrison and Harless both finished with eight kills each. Harrison had six blocks and Harless added three.
Eddings again had five blocks and ended the match with seven kills. Detrant had 41 assists and five digs.
Hudson lead the defense with 16 of the Trojans’ 49 digs.
The Trojans had three services aces, one coming from each Farrah Keith (Silverton, OR), Detrant and Harrison.
The Trojans are heading to Pitt CC on Tuesday night for their last conference match of the season. Then they will return home on Thursday for their final game of the regular season and it is Sophomore Night. Volleyball will be honoring seven sophomores, gametime is set for 6PM, sophomore recognition with begin at 5:30PM. All home games are played in Horace Sisk Gym and are $10 admission or free with FTCC ID or children 12 & under.
