Basketball headed to Florida for opening weekend of the 2025-2026 season. They played two games against Palm Beach State College and Florida State College at Jacksonville.
FTCC vs. Palm Beach State College: 77-95, Loss
In the first game of the season Logan Ware (Cary, NC) was the leading scorer off the bench with 16 points and he also had six rebounds. Trevion Lewis (Atlanta, GA) had 11 points with six rebounds to start his sophomore season.
Cam Burns (Charlotte, NC) and Kaleb James (Stedman, NC) each had eight points. Ray Mitchell (Jacksonville, NC) lead the defense with seven rebounds.
The Trojans shot 71.1% from the free-throw line, with Lewis, James and Jullian Mack (Charlotte, NC) not missing a foul shot.
FTCC vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville: 79-96, Loss
In game two the Trojans scored 79 points with 19 coming from James who also had six rebounds. Mitchell scored 16 points with three rebounds.
Burns had 13 points and three assists. Ja’Merl Brockington (Lumberton, NC) and Jaden Lyles (Charlotte, NC) each had seven points off the bench. Brockington also had two blocks and two assists. Lewis added six rebounds.
The Trojans again shot 75.8% from the free-throw line, with Burns going 6-6, Jaylen Sturdivant (Raeford, NC) 2-2 and Lyles 3-3.
The Trojans will open up conference play on Sunday when they head to Cedar Bluff, Virginia to face the Eagles of Southwest Virginia. Tip-off is set for 3PM.
