Fayetteville Technical Community College has introduced a new industry training opportunity for those looking to enter the construction trade, offering Utility Construction Technician (Underground) as an 11-week training course.
Registration is open for the first cohort of UCT (Underground). The first offering is March 2-May 13 and meets at FTCC’s Fayetteville campus. Class is Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During this 306-hour course, students will be introduced to the elements of underground construction and safety while gaining industry-recognized certifications to help them be workforce-ready in less than three months.
UCT (Underground) covers the following:
- OSHA 10 for construction
- Basic underground construction
- Heavy equipment operation
- Confined space training
- Basic electrical & distribution
- CPR/AED & First aid
- NCCER CORE
- Work zone flagger
- CDL preparation
- Trenching & shoring
- Employability skills
The registration fee is $180, but funding from the North Carolina Community College System is available through the FTCC Forward Scholarship. The scholarship was established to provide funding for North Carolina residents enrolling in short-term workforce training that leads to state- and industry-recognized credentials.
