Fayetteville Technical Community College has once again been selected as a top choice for military service members, veterans and their families by Military Times, making the publication’s 2025 Best for Vets: Colleges rankings.

FTCC is ranked eighth among schools in North Carolina and 118 overall in a list that includes 357 colleges and universities. The college was 10th in the 2024 rankings.

Fourteen North Carolina schools made this year’s list. FTCC, which was evaluated for its traditional and online offerings, is the top in-state community college.

FTCC Military and Veterans Programs Senior Director Scot McCosh said his team is elated to see the college listed again in the Best for Vets rankings.

“Located at what our local military community refers to as ‘the center of the military universe,’ we strive to serve this unique population with a commitment to the same values that underpinned their service to our nation — loyalty, duty, respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity and personal courage,” McCosh said. “Our large percentage of staff who are military-connected give us a depth of understanding and connection that creates a special student-veteran community on our campus that continues to grow in size and depth. It’s a privilege to help our veterans find their next chapter of service through their education and training at FTCC.”

For its annual rankings, Military Times collects data through an extensive survey of colleges from across the country.

These survey responses, along with public data sourced from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs, undergo analysis by the Military Times team to produce the ranking.

Institutions are evaluated on academic quality, student support services, affordability and outcomes for veterans, including graduation and retention rates.

“As president of Fayetteville Technical Community College, I am deeply proud that FTCC has once again earned a place on Military Times’ 2025 Best for Vets: Colleges list, this year as the top-ranked community college in North Carolina and number 118 nationally,” said Dr. Mark Sorrells. “FTCC is privileged to serve a community that includes Fort Bragg, the largest military installation in the world. We embrace the responsibility to support those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. This recognition is a testament to the exceptional dedication of our faculty, staff, and military-connected team members, whose commitment to our mission is demonstrated daily. To every active-duty service member, veteran, and military family member considering their next chapter, FTCC stands ready to assist and is committed to your success and honored to serve those who so valiantly serve our country.”

FTCC offers a wide range of classes for all students, and programs are available in a variety of settings, including on FTCC’s campuses, at Fort Bragg and online.

The college has developed a number of resources to meet the unique needs of its military-connected students.

FTCC awards appropriate credit for prior military learning and follows up with comprehensive services to meet the special educational needs of military personnel and their families.

FTCC’s All American Veterans Center, which is located on its Fayetteville campus, provides educational assistance and support to veterans. The college’s Transition Tech program provides industry-focused training for military members who are preparing to enter the civilian workforce.

In addition, FTCC has full-time staff located at the Bragg Training and Education Center at Fort Bragg, serving active-duty personnel.

FTCC has proudly been recognized in a number of military-focused rankings, including most recently being named to Viqtory’s Top 10 Military Friendly Schools list earlier this year.
