Program Overview
The Associate in Fine Arts degree combines a solid liberal‐arts foundation—encompassing humanities/fine arts, English composition, mathematics, and social sciences—with focused studio and performance training in Visual Arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media), Music & Music Education (theory, performance, and pedagogical methods), and Theatre (acting, stagecraft, and production). As part of the UNC Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, graduates seamlessly transfer into UNC institutions as juniors, equipped not only with discipline‐specific skills and creative problem‐solving abilities but also with the academic rigor and critical‐thinking capacities that enhance both employment prospects in the arts and readiness for advanced study.

Meet the Staff
Abir Mohsen
Fine Arts Instructor

Biography:
Abir Mohsen is an instructor in the Fine Arts Department at FTCC. She received her MFA from East Carolina University and her BA in Art Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Prior to teaching at FTCC, Mohsen taught at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Robeson Community College, and East Carolina University. Throughout her career, she has taught various courses, including 3D Design, Ceramics, Sculpture, Drawing, and Art Appreciation.
Mohsen has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally at venues such as the University of Sharjah in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates; the Greenville Museum of Art in Greenville, North Carolina; ArtFields in Lake City, South Carolina; the GreenHill Center for NC Arts in Greensboro, North Carolina; and the North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrove, North Carolina.
In her free time, Mohsen enjoys spending time with her family, trying new food, and working in her home studio.
