Mission Statement

Empowering student success through efficient, accurate, and student-centered enrollment services.

Admissions & Enrollment Notice

Fayetteville Technical Community College adheres to an “Open Door” admissions policy. Applicants who are high school graduates or 18 years of age may take courses as a special credit student, provided they meet course prerequisites. Curriculum degrees, diplomas, and certificates may have specific requirements for admission beyond the regular requirements to enter FTCC.

Effective July 1, 2025, a new North Carolina Law – Leon’s Law – changes how FTCC shares education records for students under the age of 18.

How do I apply? New/Returning Students
Step 1. Complete the Residency Determination Survey

Your tuition rate depends on whether you qualify as an in-state or out-of-state student. To determine your residency status, all students must complete the Residency Determination System (RDS) online.

A key requirement for in-state residency is showing that you’ve lived in North Carolina for 12 consecutive months as a legal resident. During the RDS process, you may be asked to provide documents such as:

  • North Carolina driver’s license
  • State or federal tax returns
  • Lease agreement or mortgage statement
  • Recent pay stubs

When you finish the RDS process, you’ll receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). Be sure to add your RCN to your admissions application.

To get started, complete the Residency Determination System (RDS) questionnaire below, to determine your tuition rate.

If you believe you have been incorrectly classified as an out-of-state student, you can request a reconsideration. Additional information on reconsiderations and appeals can be found here.

NC RDS Contact Number: 844-319-3640

Step 2. Complete the FTCC Admissions Application
  • New students: never taken a curriculum course at FTCC
  • Returning students: have completed curriculum courses
    • Must reapply after one academic year of nonattendance.
  • If you are enrolled in a Health, Cosmetology, or Funeral Service program, please contact the department to determine if you are required to reapply.

Step 3. Submit Official Transcripts

In addition to applying, you also need to request that your official transcripts from your high school, high school equivalency program, military, and any previous colleges be sent to FTCC.

Institutions and third-party transcript providers may send secure transcripts electronically to evaltranscripts@faytechcc.edu or by mail to:

Fayetteville Technical Community College
Admissions Office
PO Box 35236
2201 Hull Road
Fayetteville, NC 28303

Please Note: Transcripts must be sent to FTCC directly from previous institution(s) or their transcript service to be considered official.

  • NC public high school graduates from 2007-present: Transcripts can be ordered through CFNC (www.cfnc.org). NC Student Number is required.
    • Graduates prior to 2007 should contact the high school directly.
  • GED Transcripts: www.GED.com
  • HiSET Transcripts: www.diplomasender.com
  • Homeschool Transcripts: must submit a copy of the home school’s approved registration from the state in which they are registered and an official sealed and notarized transcript including the graduation date.
  • All other high school graduates should contact the previous school directly

Joint Services Transcripts (JST): JST Portal

Foreign transcripts from non-US schools must be translated and evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service; however, you may use any NACES-approved organization.

SpanTran has created a custom application for FTCC students to help get the right kind of foreign transcript evaluation at a discounted rate.

Step 4. Activate your FTCC Student Accounts
  • Student Email: This is how we will communicate with you going forward. Please check daily.

Undocumented Students

As part of the North Carolina Community College System’s Open-Door Policy, undocumented students are welcome to enroll in courses at FTCC. However, there are specific guidelines to keep in mind:

  1. Eligibility for Admission
Must have graduated from a U.S. high school, an adult high school, a home school that operates in compliance with State or local law, or obtained a GED/HiSET diploma to enroll in curriculum programs.
  2. Tuition
Due to state regulations, undocumented students are required to pay out-of-state tuition, regardless of how long they have lived in North Carolina.
  3. Financial Aid
Undocumented students are not eligible for federal or state financial aid (such as FAFSA or state grants). However, there may be private scholarships and institutional aid available to help with tuition costs.
  4. Program Restrictions
Some programs, especially those involving licensure (e.g., nursing, law enforcement, etc.), may have restrictions based on legal work eligibility in the U.S. If you are interested in a specific program, we recommend checking with the program area for more details.
