FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — FTCC volleyball’s late-season winning streak was halted at eight matches Tuesday with a 3-1 loss to visiting Cape Fear CC.

The Trojans, taking advantage of an early cascade of errors by the Sea Devils, won the first set 25-22. But CFCC rallied to edge out FTCC in the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-16.

With the loss, the Trojans slip to fourth in the NJCAA Region 10 Division II standings.

The loss came despite several strong individual performances from Trojans.

Da’Nya McPhatter led the team with 15 kills, her second highest single-match total this season. McPhatter tallied two solo blocks and two block assists.

Setter Krislyn Bullard had 12 digs, and outside hitter Anna Grey Barbour, a fellow sophomore, added 11.

Barbour also had the team’s two aces.

The Trojans are on a break until the Region 10 tournament, schedule for Nov. 1-2 at Surry CC in Dobson, N.C.
