RALEIGH, N.C. — FTCC volleyball’s three-match winning streak sputtered to a stop on the road in a 3-0 loss to Wake Tech on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

After dropping the first set 25-14, the Trojans (4-3) recovered to challenge the Eagles in the next two games, but ultimately fell 25-22 and 25-23.

Against a strong Wake Tech team, the Trojans struggled to generate the offense at net that had been a pillar of their winning streak. The team combined for 19 kills, with freshman outside hitter Alexis Spexarth leading the way with six.

Instead, Fayetteville Tech looked to its defense. Freshman Kristen Woods tallied a team-high 13 digs, and sophomore Anna Grey Barbour added 11, but the Trojans couldn’t chase down the Eagles late in the last two sets.

FTCC next makes a stop at Catawba Valley CC for the Red Hawks’ Region X-travaganza. The Trojans will face CVCC, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m.
