FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — FTCC volleyball, using strength and height up front, toppled Wake Tech 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The Eagles entered the match in second place in the Region 10 Division II standings, trailing only nationally ranked Catawba Valley.

The Trojans won the first two sets, taking them at 25-22 and 25-20 before Wake Tech edged its way to a 25-23 stand in the third. The Trojans snuffed out any lingering Eagle momentum to win the fourth set 25-22 and secure the match.

Sophomore middle Da’Nya McPhatter was a force at net for the Trojans, tallying 10 skills and no errors in 30 attacks. She notched four solo blocks and assisted three, part of a 15-block day for the Trojans.

Sophomore Anna Grey Barbour led the team with 22 digs, while Alissa Staton and Krislyn Bullard each recorded 11. Bullard had 26 assists.

The Trojans benefitted from a shaky day for the Eagles, who committed a season-high 36 errors on attack and eight ball-handling errors.

The win capped a four-match homestand for the Trojans. The team now heads on the road for nine days and will play five matches in seven days.

The Trojans return home Oct. 12 for a tri-match against Louisburg College and USC Salkehatchie.
