ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — FTCC volleyball cruised to a straight-set win against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Friday, Oct. 4, to open a five-match road stretch.

The Trojans, who have won three straight, improve to 8-5 overall and hold at 3-2 in the conference.

Solid work on the back row by freshman Kristen Woods and Alissa Staton propelled the Trojans. Woods, the team’s libero, had 15 digs. Station had 10, and Krislyn Bullard and Anna Grey Barbour each had nine.

Six-footers Da’Nya McPhatter and McKenzie Smith were once again overpowering at the net, with Alexis Spexarth adding firepower from the opposite side.

Smith recorded nine kills and three block assists. McPhatter had five kills, two solo blocks and two block assists, while Spexarth tallied seven kills and a block assist.

AnnMarie Miller, who returned from a two-match absence due to an ankle injury, served up three aces.

The Trojans continue their road stretch at Bryant & Stratton on Saturday, Oct. 5, with a tri-match against the Bobcats and Davidson County CC.
