The Trojans went into the Region 10 DII Volleyball Tournament as the #2 seed and left with a Runner-Up title advancing to the District Tournament. They will travel to Knoxville, TN to play a game against Pellissippi State Community College, the Region 7 winner, for a chance to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
FTCC vs. Southwest Virginia (Quarterfinals): 3-0, Win
The Eagles put up a tough fight, getting a lead on the Trojans in almost every set. But the Trojans battled back with a 3-0 win to advance to the Semifinals.
Kyrie Willis (Cypress, TX) and Sammy Harless (St. George, UT) lead the Trojan offense. Willis had 14 kills and Harless had 12.
Taylor Detrant (Keizer, OR) broke the school record for assists earning 28 in this match along with 11 digs and five kills.
Addie Hudson (Wade, NC) had 16 digs, Ella Ferrie (Stanchfield, MN) had 14 and Gracie Moore (Hendersonville, NC) had 10.
Kayloni Eddings (Pembroke, NC) had four blocks along with three kills.
FTCC vs. Richard Bland (Semifinals): 3-1, Win
After losing to the Statesmen during the regular season, the Trojans knew they were in for a tough match. RBC won the fight in set one going back and forth to a 31-29 finish. The Trojans came back and dominated to get the win in set two 25-16 and pulled through in the final points in set three and four to move on to the Championship.
Three Trojans had double digit kills; Willis finished with 18 kills and two blocks, Ferrie had 15 kills, two service aces and 13 digs and Harless had 12 kills and three blocks.
Detrant had a big 51 assists along with 16 digs and three kills. Moore lead the defense with 28 digs, she also had two service aces. Hudson added 13 digs.
Eddings had six blocks at the net with six kills.
FTCC vs. Davidson-Davie (Championship): 2-3, Loss
A back and forth battle is what is expected from a championship game, both teams fought until the very last point. The Storm took set one, but the Trojans grabbed set two and three going into the forth set with a lead. The Storm battled back to win set four which moved the match to the final fifth set to 15. The Trojans lost in the final point of the match 13-15 over a tough Storm squad.
Willis fought hard for her 22 kills, along with Ferrie who ended the match with 16 kills and 10 digs.
Detrant set up 48 assists and had 16 digs and five kills. Moore finished with 18 digs on defense and a service ace. Harless had eight kills and three blocks from the middle and Eddings finished with five blocks and two kills.
Madison Carter (Benson, NC) recorded 14 digs and a service ace and Hudson had 15 digs.
Farrah Keith (Silverton, OR) served up three aces.
The Trojans earned five All-Region Honors and two made All-Tournament Team:
